The JCCI & EDI Sales and Production Conference last September 24, 2022 saw a considerable collection of gains and an energetic display of spirit. Dozens of staff members from all levels and both offices made the trip to the JC Hub along Ayala Avenue. They came to compare notes, catch up, and celebrate the accomplishments they helped make possible.
This gathering’s major theme was “Managing your Mood”. Attendees were encouraged to wear colors that reflected the types of moods they had been feeling recently: whether they be cool and subdued, or vibrant and perky. Some took the opportunity to dress almost kaleidoscopically with multiple patterns and hues.
Adding to the theme was the main guest speaker of the conference: Mr. Kenneth Nyl Oresco, a highly accredited counselor. His presentation, entitled “Employing Optimism”, dealt with how to craft and maintain an optimistic attitude. Rather than just reminding yourself to be upbeat, Oresco posited that a more thorough adjustment of perspective was needed to manage a person’s various types of moods. On a fundamental level, it is important to be forgiving of inconveniences and appreciative of even modest successes. A true optimist, he proposed, does not feel betrayed at slight obstacles, or feels too entitled to fortunes disproportionate to their efforts. It’s a tough balance but ultimately worth it to attain a positive attitude in a professional or personal space.
The delicious breakfast buffet and pleasant company created a delightful atmosphere, which made the following activity even more pleasant. Attendees were asked to write down their favorite phrases of comfort and inspiration on pieces of paper, fold them into paper airplanes, and then let them fly all over the room, with whoever they landed nearby receiving both a kind message and a nifty new glider. This was an unexpected delight for many, as some of our staff members hadn’t made arts & crafts like these in years.
Still, the awarding of the firm’s top performers remained the true highlight of the event.
