Celebrating Togetherness: JCCI-EDI Christmas Potluck 2023

2023 has been a blessing for me and everyone else, marking a significant milestone as I advanced in my career at John Clements. Here I am, writing my first article on one of the major events at JC!

The JCCI-EDI Christmas Potluck is an annual gathering where people bring their home-cooked dishes to share. Some made their favorite dishes, whereas others shared legacy dishes passed down through generations of their family lineage.

A Tradition Beyond Food

Experiencing my first Christmas Potluck at John Clements, I realized it’s more than just an event with food and people. It’s a tradition molded by time, a legacy connecting people and cherishing simple moments together with good food. It’s the perfect time to embrace the festive season and express gratitude for another prosperous year filled with dedication, compassion, and success.

The celebration began with an opening prayer led by Jett Molas, followed by delightful opening remarks from Ms. Grace Sorongon. Then came the eagerly anticipated announcement of eating time, my favorite part of the event!

Culinary Delights and Melodic Interludes

The feast featured familiar home dishes and some I hadn’t eaten in a long time. Notably, I couldn’t resist the turkey prepared by Ms. Carol Dominguez and the Dumaguete buttered shrimp by Mr. Patrick Dayao—they were truly appetizing!

The enjoyment continued with music intermissions by Jo-Ann and Judy Ann Sonio, followed by Dominic Gepte, and more.

Celebrating Achievements

Moving forward, Ms. Malou Antonio invited the division heads to present special awards:

  • The Most Read Article went to Ms. Maron Neth Flores for the article with the most views and reads.
  • The Best in Call Reports was awarded to Mr. Dan Lester D. Napa for the highest number of call report submissions.
  • The Social Media Top Fan honor went to Ms. Helen De Guzman for consistent engagement on John Clements’ social media channels.
  • The Most Prolific LinkedIn Sharer was awarded to Mr. Patrick C. Dayao for consistent engagement with John Clements’ LinkedIn posts.
  • “My Favorite Things, Wrapped in Christmas Cheer” was awarded to Ms. Grace A. Alcid for the most engagements received on John Clements’ Facebook Page.
  • The Extra Mile award was given to Ms. Carmina Colocado, Mr. Charles Gabriel Caluza, and Ms. Mary June Navida for exceeding clients’ expectations.

The special awards were followed by the BDP Graduation of Batch 4 & 5, led by Ms. Grace A. Alcid of the John Clements Leadership Institute and Mr. Keven Guanco of Services. We witnessed a slide presentation for the graduates, which highlighted the Best Action Learning Project and the Best Studen. The presentation was accompanied by an engaging graduation background music played by Mr. James Simon Bansigan.

Fun-filled Moments for All

Continuing the festivities, Ryan and Marc Lucas of EDI organized exciting games for the children, followed by a game for the adults, called “Karaoke with a Twist,” facilitated by Wency and Ella of Staffbuilders Asia.

After engaging games for both children and adults, Ms. Carol Dominguez started giving out cash gifts to all the children who attended the Christmas Potluck event.

Embracing Gratitude and Looking Ahead

The celebration concluded with the closing remarks of Mr. Mario Biscocho, followed by the singing of a Christmas carol led by Karley Arren Solita. Everyone in the Van Gogh room sang in perfect timing, as the song “Christmas in Our Hearts” was playing.

I’m delighted to have been a part of this wonderful celebration, where everyone, along with their loved ones, gathered to cherish and express gratitude to our dearest God for a year filled with blessings and protection. Let’s hold onto our belts tightly as we embark on a new journey of the onboarding year of 2024, filled with burning passion and goals to accomplish.
