JCCI’s New Manager Training Program: Shifting to Managing Others

Transitioning from an individual contributor to a manager can be fraught with missteps. The skills that made you successful in your previous role do not seem to work as well as they used to. The relationships you used to have with peers could have changed as well.

The New Managers Training Program

To help navigate these challenges, John Clements Consultants, Inc. has been offering a program that will help new managers in their new roles. This eight-session course has been designed to cover the following topics:

  1. Understanding your role as a manager: Shift your mindset on how you will get things done.
  2. Getting work done through others: Learn to let go of things you used to do well and depend on others to complete tasks.
  3. Managing performance: Motivate your team to perform well.
  4. Coaching basics: Uncover the basics of developing your team’s professional growth.
  5. Managing a team: Get your team to work together effectively.
  6. Supporting your boss and organization: Understand your role in ensuring alignment with your boss and organization.
  7. Networking: Highlight the importance of expanding one’s influence.
  8. Emotional intelligence: Develop a high level of emotional intelligence to manage interpersonal dynamics and lead with empathy.

Harvard Business School Cases

In a three-hour session, participants delve into case study discussions using Harvard Business School cases. Each session explores a specific topic through interactive discussions, aiming to deepen understanding, foster the sharing of experiences, and facilitate the exchange of ideas. The program is available in a hybrid format, offering flexibility for participants.

Action Learning Project

The program culminates with an Action Learning Project where the participants present a project of their choosing. This allows the members of the cohort to show what they have learned from the course as well as enabling them to experiment with new ideas and innovative solutions while working with their classmates to tackle a common issue.

JCCI’s New Manager Program is public and is open to any organization that would like to help their new managers accelerate their learning curve. The program enables participants to be exposed to different industries; gain diverse perspectives; and foster innovative ways of thinking. As these new managers gain confidence in their new roles, they will become invaluable assets to their teams and organizations.

We will launch a new cohort in February 2024. Discover more about the program here.
