Navigating the AI Landscape: A Business Leader’s Primer

I had the privilege of attending a fascinating and energizing workshop entitled “Artificial Intelligence for Business Leaders: Driving Growth, Innovation, and Efficiency”. The event featured the esteemed Dr. Mohanbir Sawhney from Kellogg School of Management, a renowned expert in the field. The conference took place on July 17, 2023 at the Dusit Hotel Manila and was organized by John Clements Consultants, Inc. in partnership with GMA Network, Inc. It was an incredible experience to learn from such an esteemed authority on artificial intelligence (AI) and its impact on business.

Throughout the workshop, Dr. Sawhney shared valuable insights and perspectives on how AI is shaping the business landscape, driving growth, fostering innovation, and improving efficiency. His expertise illuminated the transformative power of AI and its potential to revolutionize various industries and sectors.

The event was filled with engaging discussions and thought-provoking ideas, as business leaders from different backgrounds came together to explore the possibilities that Generative AI offered. Dr. Sawhney’s expertise in AI applications and business strategy provided a comprehensive understanding of how Generative AI can be leveraged to gain a competitive edge in the rapidly evolving market.

Generative AI is a branch of artificial intelligence (AI) that focuses on creating models capable of generating new data that is similar to the training data it was exposed to. Unlike traditional AI systems that are designed for specific tasks, generative AI models have the unique ability to produce novel and creative outputs.

The core idea behind generative AI is to learn the underlying patterns and distribution of the training data and then use that knowledge to create new data samples that closely resemble the original data. This capability allows generative AI to produce realistic images, text, music, videos, and more, making it a powerful tool for creative applications.

There are several techniques and models used in generative AI, including Variational Autoencoders (VAEs) and Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs). VAEs are used to encode data into a compact representation and then decode it back into the original format, enabling creative data generation. On the other hand, GANs consist of two neural networks, the generator and the discriminator, which compete against each other in a game-like setup. The generator tries to create fake data to deceive the discriminator, while the discriminator aims to distinguish real data from fake data. This competition results in the generator improving its ability to produce more realistic data.

Generative AI has found applications in various fields, including image generation, content creation, virtual character design, data augmentation, and more. It has the potential to revolutionize how we interact with technology and unlock new possibilities for creativity and innovation.

I left the workshop feeling inspired and equipped with a deeper appreciation for the role of AI in shaping the future of business. The knowledge and insights gained from this event will undoubtedly influence my approach to business decisions and strategies in the AI-driven era.

Overall, the “Artificial Intelligence for Business Leaders” workshop was a truly enriching experience, and I am grateful for the opportunity to learn from one of the world’s leading experts in the field. I look forward to applying these learnings to drive growth and innovation in my own professional journey.
