Jakarta, Indonesia—On August 1, 2006, at the Mandarin Oriental Tanjung Rasamala Function Room, John Clements hosted The Philippines Redux , a business forum intended to give a broader perspective to Filipinos working abroad to consider the opportunities available in the Philippines. The event was attended by a few dozen Filipino senior executives from firms like CNN, Wireless, Connor, the Spinner Network, Bali Hai, Citigroup, Ernst & Young, and more. The speakers were Carol Dominguez, president and CEO of John Clements, and former Department of Labor and Employment Secretary Patricia Sto. Tomas.
Mr. Andi Mohammad Hatta, President-Director of PT John Clements Consultants Indonesia, opened the forum with a talk on the Indonesian economy. Former Secretary Sto. Tomas's presentation centered on the positive aspects of returning to the Philippines to work, and Ms. Dominguez concluded the event with a call for more leaders who stand to take on executive roles in the Philippines , especially in the rapidly growing BPO industry. She said that international experience as executives will go a long way toward building more solid business in the Philippines.
