by Paul Catiang
On December 19, 2006, Sutherland Global Services inaugurated its facilities in the Clark Special Economic Zone in Clark Field, Pampanga. The event was also graced by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. The Philippine President lauded the company’s management in generating around 2,000 job opportunities in the country. An additional 1,000 jobs will also be available within the next 12 months as Sutherland ramps up its ranks.
Dilip Vellodi, Chairman and CEO of Sutherland, spoke on the company’s main objectives, namely generating employment, training initiatives, and planned expansion, all of which supports the government’s Medium-Term Philippine Development Plan. Mr. Vellodi also presented President Macapagal-Arroyo with a check for PhP 2.5 million as relief assistance to the victims of typhoon Reming. Over 15,000 Sutherland employees worldwide contributed to donate this generous amount.
To date, Sutherland contributes largely to the 45,011 workers currently employed by the various companies that have chosen to set up shop in Clark Field and avail of the many advantages there.
