PT John Clements Consultants Indonesia Launches

By Ayu Gunantari
“The new source of power is not money in the hands of a few, but information in the hands of many.”
- John Naisbitt
Jakarta, Indonesia—On May 22, 2007, PT John Clements Consultants Indonesia, in cooperation with BaliCamp, launched Careers@JohnClements, the human resources firm’s talent bank portal at the Mercantile Club.
By the end of 2010, Soesilo Bambang Yudhoyono, the President of Indonesia, planned for the creation of working opportunities for nine million unemployed citizens of Indonesia. Unemployment has become a serious problem in Indonesia, even more than it already has. Currently, as recorded in February 2007 by the National Bureau of Statistics, the ratio of unemployment to the total workforce in Indonesia is 9.75 percent of 108.13 million people. That equals to more than 10.5 million people in the country.
PT John Clements Consultants Indonesia, together with BaliCamp, a member of SIGMA Karya Sempurna, has decided to devote their core competence and expertise to solving the national crisis: Careers@JohnClements, a talent portal which will allow its users, especially Indonesians, to realize their dreams in career advancement. Andi Mohammad Hatta, President-Director of John Clements Consultants Indonesia, explains: “The main purpose is to simplify and modernize in order to create an efficient process in finding the suitable competency to match a job vacancy.”
By registering online at Careers@JohnClements, jobseekers are welcomed to fill in their personal data, upload their résumés, and update it frequently, based on their current status. The data is then stored in the Talent Bank, where it is open to possibilities of meeting a requirement from a prospective employer.
“It’s the professional art of matchmaking, but as logical as overcoming the gap between job demand and supply”, says Djarot Subiantoro, PresidentDirector of SIGMA. He also quotes Hatta, “It’s about time to maximize the potentials of Information Technology.”
The launched Careers@JohnClements currently has 43,000 résumés stored in their Talent Bank, but by the end of 2007, it is targeted to have at least 100,000. With the upcoming two phases, it is expected, with the talent data integration of John Clements Consultants Inc. in Manila, to have three million résumés by the end of 2010. “In doing so, hopefully we can realize our contribution to the nation of Indonesia,” Hatta closes.
