John Clements Explores Opportunities in Dalian
by Paul Catiang

From July 12 to 15, Carol Dominguez, President and CEO, and Mario Biscocho, Vice President and Managing Director of John Clements, flew to Dalian in northeast China to take a survey of the BPO industry there.

They visited several outsourcing companies there, including Accenture, Dell, GE, GENPACT, Hewlett-Packard, and SAP. Other institutions they visited were the Dalian Software Park, Co., Ltd., which is in the middle of developing the city's IT hub, and AHK Consulting Services, a human resources firm.

As with the visit to India in the previous month, the Dalian trip is largely an educational immersion in the BPO industry in the city. Ms. Dominguez and Mr. Biscocho made inquiries as to the processes employed by the companies there, and studied how Dalian 's infrastructure supports the IT and ITES companies that operate there.

These trips pursue the aim of achieving a better understanding of how outsourcing operates in several key Asian cities, with a special focus on how the outsourcing companies in these cities address their human resources concerns.
