by Paul Catiang

On May 10, 2007, at the Acacia Room of the Mandarin Oriental, Tully Moss, President of the Magellan Alliance, unveiled his study into the opportunities available to the Philippines as far as Knowledge Process Outsourcing, or KPO, is concerned. In attendance were several industry leaders, among whom were Oscar Sañez of the Business Processing Association of the Philippines (BPA/P), Frank Holz of Outsource2Philippines, and Patty dela Rama of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).

Mr. Moss focused on the Philippines’ strengths—finance & accounting, human resources, creative development, and engineering—and areas which need improvement—research & development, scientific research and mathematics. He also revealed a study of the provinces as outsourcing destinations, taking into account their respective labor pools, the profile of the graduates they produce and the provincial cities’ respective infrastructures, among other factors.
