EDI-Staffbuilders Participates in International Labor Mart
by Paul Catiang

As part of the DOLE Labor Opportunities (DOLO) Program to showcase the Philippines as a top provider of human resources for the global labor market and to further enhance the competitiveness of Filipino workers, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) held the First International Labor Mart at the Philippine International Convention Center from November 9 to 11. The event’s participants included international employers and licensed placement and manning agencies, not the least of which was the top international recruitment firm EDI-Staffbuilders International, Inc.

The world-renowned recruitment firm had two booths with which to cater to the inquiries of prospective Overseas Filipino Workers, as well as to receive those of their clients who participated in this groundbreaking event.

Speakers at the event included various government luminaries, such as DOLE Secretary Patricia Sto. Tomas, Philippine Overseas Employment Agency Administrator Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz, as well as keynote speaker Vice-President Noli de Castro. President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo herself graced one of the two awards ceremonies with her presence.

Awards were given to deserving international recruitment firms—one of which was EDI-Staffbuilders—and to overseas employers who have proven their loyalty and dedication to their Filipino employees. This includes Habchi & Chalhoub, Saudi Mechanical Industries, the Saudi Basic Industries Corporation, and the National Commercial Bank, both of which received the Presidential Award of Distinction, and the Chiyoda Company and the Saline Water Conversion Corporation, both of which were awarded with the Ministerial Citation from the Department of Labor and Employment.
