NATIONAL DIRECTOR
Our client is an international non-profit, non-political,
and non-sectarian child development agency that operates in over
30 countries. It has provided development assistance in the Philippines
for 35 years. In partnership with 49 community-based organizations,
it assists more than 216,000 children and their families. It is
currently seeking a high-caliber development professional to lead
its office in the Philippines.
Reporting to the Regional Representative, he/she
will provide the vision and strategic leadership in the country,
articulating the agency’s vision and mission as well as designing
and implementing a strategic plan to address the causes and effects
of poverty and other adverse conditions on children in the country.
Responsibilities will include:
Advocacy – Represent and
influence policies for children to all relevant stakeholders,
including government, donors, NGO partners and other interested
parties, to ensure that the agency is recognized as the leading
child development organization;
Leadership – Provide leadership
for the agency’s national program through strategic planning,
alliances, learning, research and documentation aligned with regional
and organizational strategies;
Management – With full
operational responsibility, ensure adequate financial, human and
physical resource allocation and management and maintain quality
operational standards and compliance to the organization’s
policies and guidelines as well as to local laws and regulations;
Resource Mobilization and Management
– Acquire additional resources and funding both in-country
and internationally, ensuring their proper utilization in pursuit
of quality programs;
Program Management – Expand
and develop programs through initiatives that advance the agency’s
impact on the wellbeing of children and their communities.
The successful candidate must have the following
qualifications:
- At least 5 years experience gained from an international
NGO at the management level
- Proven ability to grow a development agency
by attracting local and international resources and building alliances
- Demonstrated high level of interpersonal and
cross-cultural skills, including the ability to build collaborative
relationships internally and externally with sensitivity to cultural,
ethnic, social and political issues
- Strong leadership skills in fostering teamwork,
developing and motivating staff
- Forward-thinking, strong visioning, strategic
planning and implementation ability; effective under pressure,
results-oriented and proactive with the ability to multi-task
- Demonstrated technical expertise in such areas
as project, budget and resource management.
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills
and proven ability in the English language. Tagalog desirable.
- A good grasp of children’s issues at national
and global levels a distinct advantage.
