Coaches can help promising leaders take their performance to the next level.  The coach assists the client in identifying goals that are likely to have the greatest impact on the client’s performance as a leader and that the client is likely to be most committed to achieving.  By creating trust, by engaging in active listening, by asking powerful questions, and by sharing observations, the coach enables the client to develop insights about his or her situation and about actions that could improve that situation.  The coach is there for the client, being supportive, inviting the client to explore assumptions underlying behavior, and helping the client structure an approach to elevating his or her leadership performance.
