The John Clements Staffbuilders Asia Division now
offers payroll processing! “We’ve actually been offering
payroll processing as part of our full-cycle services for 31 years,”
says Rita Estella, Vice President and Managing Director of the Staffbuilders
Asia Division, “But last year, due to popular demand from
our clients, we decided to start offering payroll processing as
a separate service.”
1. You save money.
When John Clements processes your payroll, we
provide the people, services, and equipment. The alternative—hiring
accountants, timekeepers, and clerks—would come out vastly
more expensive in the long run. Says Rita Estella, “When
you hire an accountant, you aren’t just paying his/her monthly
salary. Aside from initial pay, you have to provide all the benefits
and incentives you give all employees. On top of that, you are
paying people to regularly monitor his/her performance. By the
time that accountant retires, you will have spent a small fortune
on him/her.”
By hiring John Clements to do your payroll, you
are, in effect, sharing resources with other companies. The Outsourcing
Institute of America estimates that companies that outsource HR
and payroll functions experience cost savings of at least 9%.
2. You save time.
It is estimated that most businesses spend approximately
35-45% of their administration’s time on HR tasks. Outsourcing
payroll reduces the administration functions of a company, allowing
it to focus its manpower on core business activities. Aside from
man hour computation and payroll scheduling, John Clements takes
care of all reportorial requirements (SSS, Philhealth, Pag-Ibig,
withholding taxes) as well as annual reportorial requirements
(W2s).
“When we process payroll for clients,”
says Ms. Estella, “all they have to do is receive and read
the reports. The client monitors results, not performance.”
3. You benefit from the “human
touch.”
The difference between John Clements and an
accounting firm is the flexibility and adaptability that comes
with being a Human Resource firm.
Should a client have specific requirements of
their payroll processing system, we can tailor the system to those
requirements. More often than not, when a company buys off-the-shelf
software, it ends up adapting its requirements to the system,
instead of the other way around. John Clements has an entire computer
center with programmers who can customize the system according
to a client’s needs.
As a Human Resource firm, John Clements is also
more sensitive to personnel issues. “For example,”
elaborates Ms. Estella, “if an employee fails to submit
his/her timesheet by the deadline, the employee normally has to
wait for the next payday to receive his salary. We realize that
this will demoralize the employee and affect his/her performance,
and we understand that he/she might not be able to come in to
work due to lack of funds. We don’t, however, hold up the
processing of other employees’ payroll. We go ahead with
the process, and we do a separate manual computation for the late
employee.”
She concludes, “It’s really about
how far you can flex your processes.” At John Clements,
the client sets the limit.
