Meet an Insider:
Ramon C. Quevedo
Securing an interview with Ramon C. Quevedo is
difficult. After ten years of working for EDI-Staffbuilders International,
Inc. as a Senior Technical Consultant, he was recently promoted
to Group Managing Consultant, now in charge of the team that searches
and sources engineering talents for placement in jobs abroad. This
means that any interview with him will be squeezed in between his
client meetings, as was the case when he was interviewed for this
article. He was gracious enough to grant a few minutes of his time,
given his extremely busy schedule.
A graduate of Electrical Engineering from the University
of Sto. Tomas, Mr. Quevedo first worked in the British Indian Ocean
territory of Diego Garcia. “I worked at the naval base there,
and we saw action during my term of employment. That was during
the Gulf War in the early ‘90s.”
The high-energy environment has helped him adapt
to the rapid pace of activity at EDI-Staffbuilders, where his early
experience as an Overseas Filipino Worker qualified him for a job
with at the international recruitment company ten years ago.
The professional shift proved to be not without
its challenges, but Mr. Quevedo soon adapted, this time focusing
his attention on the recruitment and assessment of applicants. The
usual challenges are still there, he admits, “especially in
my current field. My responsibilities to his team and my dealings
with EDI’s many clients are always on my mind.” Still,
Mr. Quevedo forges on, finding jobs for his fellow citizens abroad.
