At the Export Bank Plaza in Makati City, on March 29, 2006, Sutherland Global Services held an inaugural ceremony for its operations here in the Philippines, an event highlighted by the attendance of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. The Philippine president acknowledged Sutherland Global Services’ dedication to the country. The offshore, knowledge-based ITES solutions company declared a Phase 1 target of 500 employees, which was ramped up to over 750 with plans of expanding to 1,500 within the next six months.

“We would like to congratulate Sutherland and their employees on their success here in the Philippines,” Mrs. Arroyo said. “Sutherland’s expansion in Manila serves as testament to the highly committed and professional workforce this country has to offer.”

Dilip Vellodi, the chairman and CEO of Sutherland Global Services, declared, “The ability to meet growing and changing needs is our clients’ key objective. The Philippines continues to show great promise as a delivery location, offering advantages of high value at a competitive cost, along with a robust talent pool that will allow us to consistently meet the needs of our global US and UK-based F1000 clients.”

“The government of the Philippines has been supportive of our initiatives,” Mr. Villodi added, “and we are especially honored to have Her Excellency President Macapagal-Arroyo with us to celebrate the launch of our new facility. Moving forward, we will explore options outside of Manila as potential future locations for delivery of knowledge-based ITES solutions.”

Sutherland Global Services manages a solid global client base, which includes some of the Fortune 500 companies in the Retail, Communications, Information Technology, and Banking and Financial Services Industries. These clients’ needs are served by Sutherland’s 12,000-strong employee base, which continues to expand through the company’s new operations in India and Canada.
